One woman inmate, who wanted to be identified as Amy, told me that she was so sick adding that it sucked pretty bad. If it's not required and they are sentenced to do time, they must get through the pain and suffering associated with withdrawls in jail. No one is booked into the jail, if they need medical attention. The idea was to get him to come down off of his high and calm down, so he could be safely admitted in to the jail. We watched one man bounce his head off a concrete wall as jail staff tried to get him into a restraining chair. Some of them are very intoxicated when they get there are uncooperative. Some of the people that come to the jail are in bad shape. Fuller says the level of addiction that they deal with is ten fold different from the day she first started. Katie Fuller says times have changed at the jail. Many of them were sentenced, would serve their time, get out and wind up back in jail for the same things. I wanted to go there after discovering that so many of the inmates were being held on drug or alcohol related charges. That's when Valley News Live photographer Dave Erickson and I paid a visit to the jail. ![]() ![]() Generally, jailers are kept very busy on the weekends, but for some unknown reason, I was told you can expect a lot of traffic when there's a full moon. ![]() On any given night, the Cass County jail is near capacity.that's close to 350 inmates.
